The legit factor would be great in fixing the record books so at least we can take 2 of the teams where 3 teammates hit 40hr's in the same season and throw them away. Walker, Galaragga, Bichette, Burks and Castilla never had the seasons they had in the Humidor and yet they "taint" great trivia and record books. I'm pretty certain Larry Walker and Bichette had some of the most pre-posterous home and away splits you would ever see and I won't mention the PED factor of the era. Give me the Braves with Aaron, Johnson and Evans as the only legit teammates to accomplish the feat and throw the park factor asterisk next to the Rockies. Thanks for clearing things up John! Great article.

The Mob was NOTHING without all those diamonds! Nothing! In Rich's park, they become a bunch of singles** hitters.
Thanks Dave

This article is a disgrace. Its an insult to any Highland Park STrat player in history. To use the game of baseball as a "tool" to prove your point about the strat dynasty known as the MOB, always hitting those league leading bombs in homer friendly parks, is a journalistic freedom that I dont appreciate. The MOB with (deep voice here) BONDS and SHEFFIELD, made ballparks not matter. Nice try with the disguised analyses, but we all know you're taking shots at the dynasty, even 15 years later.
BTW, great article in all seriousness.
Anyone want to make a deal for a .340 hitter in Hal Morris? I'll take your numbers 1 and 2 for him. Vince?

When all is said and done, that's the bottom line, isn't it. Thanks for the perspective. I don't look at these observations as if those home runs should be worth less or anything like that...simply to give us an idea of what the ballpark gives.

I like the legit factor..it is something that I have honestly thought of but discounted it, thinking there is no way to actually measure it and when it comes down to the facts ...A HOMERUN IS A HOMERUN!!!!

Rich, your questions (all 300 of them) are exactly what we want to answer with a bit more accuracy using a new "ballpark impact" rating system that is more in tuned to the ballpark itself. Part II...let's see, how vague can I be...coming out soon! (just like Zaberers in Jersey: "just minutes away!").
Thanks for the interest.

This really tells the ballpark's story. I always took those factors with a grain a salt. Many times it is the team itself(like you demonstrated in Minnesota). Anyone can dig out stats a put it in a pie graph, but this analysis looks beyond the numbers. They said the new Atlanta park was more of a hitters park, but because they always have top of the line pitchers and not so much in terms of power, those numbers would skew this as a pitchers park. Any research on that park?

I'm excited about this, but more in terms of parks that hold home runs. I would love to see Willies May's stats and how many he would have hit in another park. Could he have been the all-time leader over Aaron if he played... anywhere else.

Other intriguing questions... is Fenway a joke compared to other parks? Does it play that differently? How has the humidor affected Colorado? I would love to see the Wrigley field splits from the frigid beginning of the year to the wind blowing out in the dog days of summer.

Great stuff.... When's part 2 coming out?

Thanks, Joe. It would be interesting to see how individuals have benefited. I'm sure Howard and Utley have had their share of not-so-legit homers like anyone else who has played at CBP. But I suspect that the more powerful a guy is, like Howard, the less charity he needs to add to his HR total.
